Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media critic for more than 20 years. She is also an accomplished public speaking. She created Feminist Frequency the site which features video and posts on the representations of women in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian and American feminist media critique. Feminist Frequency is a non-profit educational website which investigates representations of women in the popular media narratives. Committed to destroying the stereotypes related to women in popular media, she is also working to address issues relating to gender-specific harassment of women as well as different classes of individuals on the internet. Sarkeesian, who has a Master's in Social and Political Thinking from York University, is a popular public speakers. She has given speeches at TEDxWomen's XOXO Festival and the United Nations Broadband Working Group to Gender. At a young age she was intrigued by issues of gender identity and feminist thought. When she was still in school, in 2009 she started her Feminist Frequency website. The determined lady had planned to create a web series examining gender-based representations in video games. However, she ended up being the victim of a harassment online campaign. The harassment didn't hinder her. She was only able to strengthen her position in her role as a feminist journalist. Sarkeesian has been awarded numerous awards in recognition of her many notable contributions to the field of feministism. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award winning media journalist. She was also the director and founder of Feminist Frequency an educational non-profit organization that explores pop culture representations of females.
